Our plane is a stock 1963 Cessna, Model 210C, It is a four place (4 seats), high wing, retractable gear aircraft. The power comes from a Continental 10-470-S, Fuel-Injected Engine rated at 260 HP at 2625 RMP. What all this means is that the engine is fuel-Injected (Yes they had fuel-injected engines in 1963) with a 470 cu. in. engine. The type is "S" is for the manufactures series identification letters.
Performance Specifications: Gross Weight is 3,000 lbs, Top Speed at sea level is 198 mph, and with extended fuel thanks, the airplane has a range of 1,065 miles, or 5.7 hrs of flying time. The useful load is 1,200 lbs, or to put it another way, how much stuff can Marlene take along and still get the craft off the ground. With full fuel, the gas tanks hold 84 gallons, that is 504 lbs of fuel. Put in Marlene and me, about 285 lbs, and that leaves about 400 lbs for other stuff that we need to carry.
